2011 - 2018 : from Master’s to PhD
Yaouba holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Ngaoundéré, in Adamoua region, Cameroon and served as a Temporary Teaching and Research Assistant (ATER) for 3 years between 2011 and 2014 at the same University. His main objective was to work in higher education. Therefore, to achieve his goal, Yaouba decided to enrol in a doctoral program at the University of Nairobi in Kenya in 2014 and was granted a doctoral fellowship funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) programme under the Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme (Afimegq Doctoral fellowship).
During his PhD programme, Yaouba had international experience in Europe. He was invited for research stays at Goteborg university in Sweden and TU Dortmund university in Germany in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
He successfully defended his PhD thesis in Chemistry specialized in natural substance product chemistry in December 2018.
2019 - 2023 : post doctoral experiences
After his phD, Yaouba obtained his first post-doctoral fellowhip in France, funded by the « Impact Biomolecules » project of Lorraine Université d’excellence - LUE, at the microbiology laboratory (DynAMic) of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Lorraine from 2019 to 2020. In that position, he focused on antibiotics derived from bacteria, and obtained the qualification to apply to tenured lecturer-researcher positions.
Seeking more experience in Medicinal chemistry, Yaouba, through the network of teacher-researchers at the University of Lorraine, secured a second post-doctorate at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, from 2021 to 2022.
Subsequently, he pursued a third post-doctorate oriented on biotechnology in the same country at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières until May 2023.
Actual position and aspirations
Since September 2023, Yaouba has been a tenured lecturer-researcher (Maître de Conférences) in pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Strasbourg.
He obtained the qualification to apply to tenured lecturer-researcher positions during his first post doctorate at the University of Lorraine in Nancy- France.
This position allows him to combine both teaching and research, while establishing stability and expecting his wife to join him in France.
In the near future, Yaouba aims to receive further training in European and international research projects to be able to coordinate scientific research projects in an international consortium.
