Meeting with Jean D'Amérique at the opening of his residency Ecrire l'Europe.

Poet, playwright, novelist and rapper, Jean D'Amérique is the author of a committed body of work, that draws attention to the injustices and suffering endured by poor and marginalized populations, particularly in his native Haiti. Always keen to experiment with new poetic forms, Jean D'Amérique will also release his first rap album, Mélancolie gang, in 2023.

Jean D'Amérique will unveil the theme for the Louise Weiss 2025 Prize  after presenting the collection L'enfance, tout un monde (Childhood, a whole world) from the previous student literary competition, published this fall by Presses universitaires de Strasbourg and prefaced by Beatrice Masini.

Proposed by the University of Strasbourg's Faculties of Languages and Literature of the University of Strasbourg in collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg, Écrire l'Europe - Prix Louise Weiss is organized by the Service universitaire de l'action culturelle with the support of the Drac Grand Est and the Maison d'édition scientifique - Presses Universitaires de Strasbourg, in collaboration with the University Library Service, the European Institute of Translation (IEMT), the Lethica Interdisciplinary Institute and the Museum and Saverne City.
