In cathedral-like silence and 20 minutes early, Jean-Noël Barrot crossed the threshold of the Pasteur Room, accompanied by Frédérique Berrod, President of the University of Strasbourg, to join the hundred or so students already gathered there. By way of introduction, Frédérique Berrod drew a parallel between the format of this debate and the venue where it was taking place: The University Palace overlooks the former imperial palace: this illustrates the role of academia in relation to politics.
